I’m really trying to get in control of my finances. I’ve had to depend on credit cards for things like food and toiletries. I never used them for anything other than for survival.
They’re all maxed now and at ridiculous interest rates as high as 29%. I barely make the minimum payments and so I’m never really paying anything off, just getting deeper in debt. I’ve seriously been considering debt consolidation, but I’m so fearful of getting screwed over and that is the LAST thing I need. I was wondering if you had any advice or knew of anyone reputable.
All i know is what worked for me.. I USE to have bad credit and I came on YA with the same question about 3yrs ago, I read a post from someone and went to a site that really saved my credit…. but they do charge a fee. I would not trust someone that said they didnt..but they helped remove so much from my credit that I really didn’t feel like it was a fee… i dont know if you get what i am trying to say but just trust me these guys are professional and my score went from 500’s to 678… so if you are around there i am sure this will work for ya..

Does anyone have experience with debt consolidation? How fast were you able to pay off your debt, and how long is your credit score bad .
I know that there are different types of consolidation, and that some are scams. Does anyone with a successful consolidation have information?
I work for a credit education company and we don’t recommend that anyone use a debt consolidation company. The reason being is that when those companies consolidate your debt you lose all your credit history. For example, if you have 10 bad credit cards that you’ve had for 5 years each and you go to debt consolidation agency, what they do is close those 10 cards and put all of that debt on to one card. So instead of you having 10 cards with 5 years history you now have 1 card with 1 day of history. Your history makes up about 15% of your overall score. There’s alot of great information on our site (ficofics.com) and we also offer various credit improvement packages. If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
I am in debt and I need urgent Help I want to save my credit. Someone please help, my credit is already damaged I need urgent help.
There might not be any. Today’s Wall Street Journal had numerous complaints about people who were told by the biggest and best Consolidations COmpanies to turn over all their debts. Then things got worse very fast.
American Express will not work with any 3rd parties. They will only talk to you. The others are getting to be similar. I think you can do this yourself..
I am planning to take debt consolidation loan but want to know some information. How can I find the secured debt consolidation loan?
You can find the secured debt consolidation loan easily.

It should not have high risks if unable to maintain payment.
I need a reliable trustworthy debt consolidation service quickly. I’ve heard that most advertised agencies are to be avoided.
Try out A+ Financial their interest rates are really low and the payment are cheap. They even have free advisors come to your home to discuss it all with you. Depending on your debt ratio you might need a co-signer but it is a really good company… I went from paying 870/month on debt to 246/month for 5 years. Their rates are lower than 6%
I owe on 3 credit cards. One is starting to fall behind on the payments as its too much to pay. Which route is the way to go? Debt consolidation or contacting creditors & explaining that I was living beyond my means & now I am having trouble paying.
On the one card I’m having trouble with (Chase), my monthly balance is $299 but I can afford to pay $180 a month to them. I’ve heard horror stories where people get the WORST treatment when they try to set up payment plans with credit card companies. Do most companies decline an offer of a payment arrangement? I can get back to more payments in January or February but now is hard.
